Percussion Caps Packing Box
Purpose:
Most of the Federal Armies' Musket Caps were produced by
the Frankford Arsenal. According to the Ordnance
Manual, after the caps were "put up" in cotton duck
bags. Each bag held 10,000 caps and was stenciled with
the bag number, contents and place and date of
fabrication. The packing box held 10 of these bags
packed in "tow", which is untwisted rope.
Our
packing box is made to Ordnance dimension; it is not
dove-tailed, however, we include 10 bags, stenciled and
numbered 1 to 10. The box is painted olive and stenciled
with the contents.
Materials:
6 non-functioning screws to represent the 2" #12
screws that attached the lid on the original. Also
included are 2 lids stops and a small sample of tow.
Caps are not included. The bags can be empty or full
of wood shavings (I have to get rid of the shavings
somehow).
Sizes:
30" long (+ handles)
x 13-1/2" wide x 10" high.
note:
Expect to pay slightly more for shipping due to the
size of the box
